In the fifties in Czechoslovakia (and far beyond its frontiers) broadcasting and journalistic stories from the far away regions and countries were enormously popular. They were far away, in reality – Africa, Latin America. It was something absolutely new at that time. Stories and wonderful photos of the famous travelers and talented Czech journalists Hanzelka and Zikmund brought light to the people, presented them with a new perception of the world.

A couple of years ago a large exhibition of their photos took place at Prague airport, where I was very much impressed with the photo of the bathing buffaloes. I thought on the spot – but this is a ready medal! A marvelous luck! I have hardly invented anything new in this work, the nature was so perfect, making it all complete, and Hanzelka and Zikmund could see it all and fix it with such a talent.
