Traps for night dreams

CAST BRONZE, CAST GLASS.
80X70X65 СМ

Initially I wanted to call this work “Golden dreams”, because a board made of golden glass serves as a pedestal to it. The present name appeared after I hanged on the trees a pair of “the traps for dreams” - apotropaic charms, invented by the ancient Red Indians. In order to realize what it means, imagine spider's web. Mosquitos and other little gnats are there in the trap quite soon while the spider himself - never. Human nightmares, alike, are trapped in the threads and “die” in the morning from the sun light, while the wise and kind dreams are gathered in the centre of the web and are kept there till the following night in order a sleeping person could see them once again. The apotropaic charms are shaken in the wind and trap the night dreams, passing by.
